Exclamation Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

[ Splitting this off from the original thread to keep things organized. ]

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**** THE GROUP BUY IS OVER ****

Ordering: The group buy is done and there are no plans to place future group orders.

NOTES:
  • The 18" rims have NOT been retooled yet and probably won't be. -2 is still the current revision on the 18" and it DOES NOT FIT the larger 1.25" rotor without modification. It will, however, fit the light-duty 1" rotor.
  • In the 20" rims, -3 is the current revision, but it still has fitment problems on the 1.25" rotor that will require machining or spacers to fit.
  • As before, the backspacing on the 20x10 will necessitate spacers of some sort at the rear, but what size depends on too many factors to list here. Measure your setup to know what you need; no one can really tell you with any certainty. This is not, never has been, and almost certainly never will be a direct bolt-on solution for '67-87 trucks. If this surprises or disappoints you, you haven't been reading very carefully.

I don't think there are any backspacing options. I'll post a chart of specs above for 5-on-5 wheels.

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

If they made them in 6 lug I would be interested. BTW, Eagle Alloy has a distribution center pretty close to me and I have a state resale. I can buy them at wholesale if you guys are interested.

They only come in 5-lug patterns, unfortunately. However, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we'd be VERY interested in wholesale pricing, and I'm sure no one would have a problem with throwing a little extra your way for the hassle. If AEW will drop-ship the wheels, I imagine very little actual work would be involved for you. Just let me know what it would take to make it happen.

Yup. What the regional manager told me last week is that the painted (grey/black) wheels are being made first, with the 20x8.5 currently in stock and the 20x10 coming soon. Chrome will follow in a few weeks; no exact ETA.

Currently no ETA on the Chrome... but chrome is going to be a few hundred more per set than the black and gray

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

I would be willing to pay exta for the chrome. I am painting my truck pearl met. silver, and I think the grey would be a little to much of the same looking color going on. Thanks for looking into this for every one!

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

2x 20x10 2x 20x8.5 prefer all chrome but I may settle on the grey center finish depending on an eta for the chrome.

I think the chrome gives the rim more depth being that the back of the rim to lip is all 1 piece, as opposed to the grey or black center wheels, they only have the chrome outer lip. Even in the pics Brent posted, you can clearly see the chrome looks much deeper than the painted wheels.

Are the 20s going to have the deeper lip like the 18s?
I think I read somewhere here that the 18x10 has a deeper lip than the 20x10 for some odd reason.

I am willing to wait up to 4 weeks for the chrome... any longer, and I will just be jealous that everyone else got their rims first

What options will we have to pay?
I am assuming paypal.. but paypal has fees that the recipient incurs. with this much money, I would guess the fees to be somewhat substantial.
Something to think about.

(The info below is from Paypal's site)

Transaction Fees for Domestic Payments

Sending money
It's always free to send money to friends and family when you use your PayPal balance or bank account. Fees apply only if the sender uses a credit or debit card, or if you receive any payment for goods or services. There are also:

* No monthly fees to maintain a PayPal account.
* No setup fees.
* No gateway fees.
* No fees for multiple eBay and merchant tools.

Does not apply to Website Payments Pro or Virtual Terminal.

Receiving purchase payments

The standard rate for receiving payments for goods and services is 2.9%.

If you receive more than $3,000.00 USD per month, you're eligible to apply for PayPal's Merchant Rate - which lowers your fees as your sales volume increases. Your fees can be as low as 1.9%, based on your previous month's sales volume.

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

** UPDATE **

Okay, guys. We've got our source (no vendor out there is gonna beat wholesale pricing!) and I'm working with him on pricing to ensure that his credit card fees are covered and he's not gonna lose money by doing us a favor. No one should be expected to work for free, so when we set the prices I think we'll round up to the nearest $5 increment above wholesale cost and CC fees and the extra will be a token of our appreciation. (If you don't like that, shop elsewhere. What can I say?) To be absolutely clear, I will get absolutely nothing from this. Any minimal "profit" goes to the vendor and my only benefit from this is the best possible prices just like the rest of you.

Watch for prices to be posted later today. I'll just modify the top post in this thread when we're ready.

And just so we're all clear: black and grey are in stock and ready to ship according to the warehouse. There is currently no ETA on chrome, but if we get info on this we'll post it.

Of course. Or three of one size and one of another. Whatever floats your boat.

They only make this wheel in 18" and 20" varieties. Here's a link to the spec sheet: http://www.bossmotorsports.com/wheel...ecs.cfm?id=408

Thank you for your concern and for bringing this blog to my attention. I am of the understanding that blogs as this have brought the subject of the 338 and the Chevy trucks up, along with the issues that come along with the part for this fitment. By the way. insane on the trucks .. love it and keep that American muscle on the road.

There is an issue with the front spindle on the Chevy trucks and we are aware of it. Truck lovers as yourself brought this to our attention and we are addressing it. UP SIDE, the new part will be available the first of the year,if not a bit sooner. This part does not have a different offset but a wider cap detail and taller cap that allows the part to fit over the spindle and grease cap. problem solved we truly hope. DOWN SIDE, the 3 prong knock off will no longer fit the wheel. big deal for Chevy truck lovers? I don't know ? the part will also have a bit larger cap. We at American Eagle always try our best to keep a part, as well liked as the 338, as close to the original design if or when modifications are needed. FYI our 22 inch 338 will be released in 22x8.5 and 22x9.5 close to march and we will make sure the parts fit these vehicles.
Hope this helps and thank you for taking the time to allow us to get involved.
Ps. you have to love a part that looks like this and is priced like this and best of all made in the United States Of America. check to see where the other wheels that were mentions are made , you may be surprised!!! We will keep building wheels for you as long as you keep giving us the input to do it right.

Haven't heard anything about them recently, but it might be worth calling AEW (909-590-8828) about if you're interested. User nlped had a post back in January saying they were in the warehouse, but that may have been bad information. Only one way to find out.
