big pistons!!!!

took apart a 351 V6.....the pistons are way bigger than i expected....

Wasnt the 409 the v8 version of the 351 v6? & the 348 the v8 of the 305 v6's? I think these v6 motors are tres cool, but I have yet to see one here in Canada. They say thet terrible mileage, but was there ever a 4bbl made for them? Wouldnt they be good for normal city driving with a 4bbl & tall gears (seeing as they had all that torque?) Sorry! not trying to hijack this thread!

as far as i know, the 348/409 V8s and the GMC V6s aren't related at all. the valve covers look alike, that's about it.

That looks like the 305. It has the small carburetor. I have a 351, too. If you think those pistons are big, you ought to see the slugs in the 478 V-6. How does a 5.125" bore sound? For more info on the Jimmy V-6, go here:

lol, sounds like me. maybe one of these days my S-10 will grow up.... lift kit, bigger tires, new axles, that V6 will get bigger and I'll have some V8 power in that 3700 pound beast, lol. or maybe I sohuld just drop a 351 V6 in my S-10 and say I have some big block power? ...big block v6 that is...
