Re: push button setup to start engine

One wire goes to the starter solenoid and one wire goes to B+. I assume you've got a third wire for the button to light up.

I've got this setup on two of my vehicles; My '63 GP and my '74 Chevelle. In both cases I mounted the button in the ashtray in place of the cigarette lighter.

Turn key to "on"; push button to crank.

Re: push button setup to start engine

Thanks, keith. i have 4 wires coming from the relay. According to directions i have, the (red) goes to b+ constant. the (white) wire from relay goes to the starter wire by cutting the starter wire and reconnecting the white wire to the starter end. Is the (yellow) wire coming from the relay needed to connect to the key cylinder wire? Can i connect this wire to the ignition sw wire or is this wire necessary? The pics show the 4 wires. the 4th wire Blk goes to rear of the button coming from the relay and also a grnd wire to chassis. thanks for any help.

I didn't interact with the key switch or wiring in any way. So mine is more like a "bump" switch (like you would use for lashing valves). It merely provides the crank function and the ignition still works like it did previously.

prob could be done you would need a usb fingerprint scanner and a computer to fire the truck. wouldnt be hard but would be easy to fault up. you could also use a phone that has the fp scanner and wifi or bluetooth to send a signal to engage the starter. still would need a computer in the car and you would have to sync it up. alot of headache to start a car.
