Wiper help please!

I am working on an 85 crew cab, I have put 4 wiper motors in it and none of them work. If I help it, they will kinda move. I have tested the plugs for power and seem to have good power in all positions of the switch. I have also checked the linkage for binding and everything moves free. The motor works when not hooked to the linkage, but has no power to turn, I can stop it with my fingers. Its winter in idaho and I have to have wipers, any idea on what to check or replace next?

I have not replaced the switch, Trying to avoid tearing the column apart. What is the box at the base of the column that the wipers plug into?

That box is the "delay" module, if so equipped. Bob, when did you become a moderator? congrats!

Re: Wiper help please!

Check for a good ground. Pretty common thing with wiper motors...

Run a temporary ground from the battery right to the wiper motor and try it.

Re: Wiper help please!

could the delay module be the problem? I have run a ground strap to the fire wall and tried running from the battery, same problem. It does it with the hood up or down or even off, same problem. I have invested about 7 hours into it so far and I am getting flustered.

Re: Wiper help please!

Won't hurt a thing to try it, they're not very expensive, just a PITA, so many screws to get to one little part.
