Check out the factory jack I found

I got it off a '70 K20 at the yard today for $5.79. It was still in its factory mount between the seatbelt and the gas tank on the passenger side. I took both the jack and the mount. When I got back to my truck, it still has the factory mount. I still need to find a crank.

I think I'll clean this up and paint it black

It looks pretty decent, did you get the handle?

The handle was missing, so I'm on the hunt for one, but I'm a lot closer to having what I need now

Very nice, I will also keep my eyes out for a handle for you.

Do I want to think about how many of those exact jacks and handles I pitched in a scrap pile in my life, NO. It is a sad thought.

Although, I do enjoy the challenge of finding these parts.

Good find.

That would be great. Thanks!

Remember that rusty K20 you and I saw at the second yard we went to? That's the truck I got it out of. Same truck I got my grille from. I've passed this jack by for over a month. Didn't even notice it

I also scored 3 sets of original seat belts out of it that are in excellent shape. I soaked them in a bucket of detergent and got them all cleaned up. They're a dark green, and should paint up well with the fabric paint I've got so they match my interior

Now all you need is a crank assembly, lug wrench and bag. Good score!

Not to be a nit picker, but to be totally correct he'll also want the seldomly found piece shown in this old for sale listing referred to as a hubcap remover. It was only supplied wih the 3/4 tons and 1 tons according to the assembly manual. My 69 CST/20 came with one from the factory.

I think I have the crank from mine. I don't want/need it. If you want to pick up shipping, you can have it. I'm at work now, but I can look and take a pic in the morning, if you're interested.

That is so nice of you! Yes, I would love it. PM me details on what I owe you and what email address to send the PayPal or other type of payment, and I'll get it sent off

Cool. Thanks. I'm sort of picky about keeping my new wheels looking good, so I've got one that has a rubber bumper on it that I keep under the seat

I offered that piece of information primarily because:
1) I know how much you love junkyarding, and
2) You also seem to enjoy the challenge of the hunt for parts. Especially the rare ones.

I am also lucky to have a great junkyard near me that got 12 of these trucks in a couple years ago. I got 3 truck tilts, a van tilt and a couple Am/FMs, a set of shoulder belts and a bunch of other stuff for next to nothing. I love going there!

I have that hubcap remover, as well as 2 original stowage bags. Never knew the hubcap remover was original to these trucks. It was in the stowage bag, but I figured someone just "added" it as I had never come across one before. Thanks for the info

Here's the jack, after I cleaned it up, primered it with two coats, and painted it with 4 coats of semi gloss Rustoleum

Hey, man. Good to hear from you. It was nice meeting you at the get together

Anyway, PicnPull has the K20 I got this from. I went to Tear A Part to get the hinge for my door today. They have the same 5 or so 67-72's that have been there for a while.

Anything you're needing?

#1 How do you find all these parts?
#2 How do you have time to find all of these parts?
#3 How do you find parts for these prices?

That the heck? Living in Los Angeles sucks! LOL

Try living in the Southern Louisiana swamp land. I've found four of our trucks in junkyards in a year and they were all rusted out. Meanwhile mine is rusting away before my eyes.

Lol

1. I just look around, even when I don't always know what I'm looking for. Stuff will jump out at me

2. The yard I bought that piece from is 10 minutes from work. I went on a lunch break. I also like going on the weekends. It's really fun

3. I don't know why they are so inexpensive here. A mirror from a 92 Beretta is the same price as a 69 classic truck, for example. All the parts are the same price. They have no clue what they've got. In fact, sometimes I'll just ask "how much for this old jack? (For example, which I did today), and even though newer generic jacks were in a pile for $10, I got it for $5 and some change for asking.

<~~~~Jealous

I went to 3 yards to find a female side to a seat belt. Then when I went to pay....the fella says $20. I may have gotten a better deal if I spoke Spanish. Who knows. I just try to avoid the yards here. Nothing in them older than 1988 anyways.

Lol. Yeah, I got a buckle with straps and a female strap for $9. Again, though I had to sell it. "How much for this old lap belt?" The guy looks it up, and it says $19, and says that can't be right and just charges me for the buckle price.

One tip: I noticed today that some of the square body chevy trucks use the same exact seat belts as our trucks.

Re: Check out the factory jack I found

Actually we've been pretty lucky to get some non rusted out trucks at the junk yards. They put salt on the roads all winter long and it wreaks havoc on our old chevs. I know my truck has seen better days. Mister b I'm on the lookout for a decent tailgate and some doors and maybe a sport bumper. It looks like they haven't got any new trucks at pick n pull or tear a part and ksl is lowly at the moment so I'll just play the waiting game.

Ss_Nova that came to our get together with his Longhorn bought the sweet tailgate off that orange '70 at Tear a Part. I don't know what his plans are for it, but it might be worth asking him if he wants to sell it
