If you post a pic of your carb I can help you out. Why do you want to switch to manual. It is not for everyone. It will take a little doing in your truck if it is a 78. Are you sure you will not have any emissions issues to worry about in PA. I know those poor bastiches in cali are now cut off at 76. Up here it is 83 for now anyway.

I will try to get a pic. I guess I should have said that this is a 78 Q-JET on a 67 283. I just prefer a manual choke. No emmission issues here!!! Thanks.

Good deal. So you have the hole in the dash for the choke which will make your life much easier. Do you have an electric choke on there or some other kind? I did pretty much exactly what you are doing. I have a newer Q-jet on my 67 that I set up with a manual choke. will go out to take a pic of the setup for you.

Here is my setup. You first have to get the choke kit. I bought mine from the local parts store. but I am sure you can get them at napa, auto zone whatever. You thread it through the dash and then through the firewall (the green circle) then I removed a bolt from "My EGR blockoff plate" and had to cut the bracket to size etc. I drilled out the tang in the choke lever to accomodate the cable binder. Just match up the bit with whatever you get in the choke kit. When cutting the cable to length you just pull the choke knob out a good ways so that you know it is behind the point in the sleeve where you want to cut. Cut the sleeve A cutoff wheel is best but i fine tooth hacksaw will work. You can't just mash it with snips because it will distort the end of the sleeve and then the cable will bind. After you cut the sleeve just push the cable back through and thread it through the binder that you have installed in the choke lever.
