Transmission dipstick tube length

HELLO! on my C10, the transmission dipstick tube barely pokes out above the firewall by the engine. On a K10 i'm building the dipstick tube is way taller almost to the edge of the firewal tunnel towards the top. (about 6 inches longer basically) Is this normal? are the 4x4 dipstick tubes taller for some reason? The reason i'm asking is im missing the trans dipstick itself and i need to find one. would anyone know where i can get a replacement trans dipstick? I'd rather not go aftermarket.

You didn't mention what trans you have but I bet you could put a longer tube in it as long as you had the dip stick to match it. Since you are a premium member you can post a "Want to Buy" on the parts board on here or check your local salvage yard or Pick-N-Pull.

Since you are in the Phoenix area I would do the salvage yard check. You may find a 350 trans already out that has a longer tube and matching stick.

Re: Transmission dipstick tube length

Regardless of which way to go getting a dip stick it's a good idea verify what is actually full. It's especially important with aftermarket sticks. The full mark should be level with the pan rail, my universal one I have in my camaro swap was actually low when at the full mark, my builder double checked it and made me a real full mark.
