15 year old fixing his first truck up!
So i got my first truck a couple weeks back, and its a 69 k10, I bought it, and will pay for anthing i need for this truck, right now it needs a grill, the front half of a driveshaft, wiper arms, a starter and altenator. and the doors replaced because they are basically rust!! But i found some doors, will have em this weekend. and possibly found a grill from my ex girlfriends dad. Hope to post alot about my truck, and hope to have her goin by homecoming.

Welcome and good luck! There are a ton of knowledgeable people on here, so you've found a great resource. Always start with a search as most things have been answered before, but if you don't find an answer, just ask!

Re: 15 year old fixing his first truck up!
Welcome, you came to the right place for info and help! I always wanted a C10 from a young age but only recently was able to purchase one. Congrats on picking one up, and kudos for doing it on your own dime. Not too many can say that anymore. Good luck on getting it completed and running, and as mentioned above, we need some pics!

Re: 15 year old fixing his first truck up!
I will take pics after i get home, currently on lunch at school. and im the only kid who can say that at my school. most kids have their mom and dad buy em a truck or car but well my family is poor, and it did run until the starter took a crap, it was my buddies mud truck.

Re: 15 year old fixing his first truck up!
My wife and I do well and still refuse to buy our daughter a car. She can work part time jobs and purchase her own car and insurance. I was raised that way and the wife was too poor, but both believe that instills the value of things.

Re: 15 year old fixing his first truck up!
In high school I drove a rusty C10 that I bought for $75. It burned so much oil I had to get my friends to save their used oil so I could burn that, and I had to run plug extenders and clean the plugs weekly to keep it running.
When the starter caked I couldn't afford one, and it was 30 below, so I drove it up on a curb to R&R the starter and clean the brushes, etc... eventually I had to spend $60 on a new starter, doubling the value of the truck. So you're living the high life :-)

Congrat's, a cool truck to start with, remember it's a project and takes time so just do what you can as you can afford it and will get better each time your on it. Keep us posted as you work on it. Ya, pic's didn't work, but looking forward to them.
