More stupid questions
Okay here goes....My 72 blazer is getting close to being finished with the patch work (floor pans, rockers, windshield frame, b pillars) i noticed that there is a little bit of rust on the rt side wheel house tub lip...(where it bolts to the bed) Are truck and blazer wheel house tubs the same? Question 2 i do want to beef up the suspension a little.. Nothing drastic...besides the obvious answer (2 inches) whats the diffrence between a 2" and 4 " lift? Im not sure if i got a 4" lift that it would fit in the garage..question 3...Anyone know the exact measurement of how tall a blazer with a 4" lift is?

Re: More stupid questions
First - I believe the wheel house is the same on Blazers and Fleetside PU (subs are different).
Second - Why do you want a lift & what size tires are you going to run? Lifts don't all measure the same from manufacture to manufacturer. The same holds true for tires - some 35's are only 34" tall, others are 35" tall. I have approx a 4" lift (installed by a PO) and I'm running tires that are 31.5" tall. My truck fits in the garage with about 1.5" to spare. The Blazer I had before this one had 6" of lift with 35's and it was about 4" too tall to fit in the garage. My current Blazer is a much smoother and truer tracking ride. The one with the big tires had a lot of bump-steer and was a challenge to drive at freeway speeds.

Re: More stupid questions
Dirt1972 - The upper portion of the Blazer and pickup wheel arches are the same (from mid body line on up). But the radius of the front lower Blazer wheel arch is different than pickups. The Blazer is squared off whereas the pickups have a rounded edge.

Re: More stupid questions
You should be able to fit 33's under stock ride height. I'm running 31's with tons of room to spare.

Re: More stupid questions
You can, I run 33's with stock ride height. Still enough room around the tires, even with the mild off roading I do I've never had an issue. Just the tires alone gave me all the ground clearance I'll ever need, and it's still not terrible to climb in everyday

Re: More stupid questions
Be careful with 33s on a stock blazer suspension. I tried this and if the wheels were turned hard over a bump they did rub. It depends on how old and worn the suspension is. I have since put a 2 1/2 inch tuff country all spring lift and the 33s look good at that height and it will not rub anymore. I have a soft top on mine and it still fits in the garage with a little to spare.

Re: More stupid questions
By the way, the pic in my avatar is the truck before the lift. stock height with 33s that really measure 33 inches.

Could be that I run the 10.5 wide tires too. Maybe the 12.5's are giving others an issue?? Last edited by Firebirdjones; 03-23-2011 at 10:54 PM. |
