Re-Pop...jeez...should be call Re-Fit!
Well today I had the inkling to work on my truck again, so I decided to install the passenger side inner fender. My fenders are Tri-Plus and so are the inner fenders, radiator support is GM original. RE-POP should be called RE-FIT. What a challenging Mother F'en Beeooch, pardon my language. I will say I learned my lesson and will pre-fit every and all parts prior to Paint, next time!!! I could have drilled out and enlarged holes here there and everywhere, and stretched out the metal first which would have made life simple. Live and learn. If you are using RE-POP make sure you fit them first. I will win...but it could have been much easier. Have to say this goes back to my 1st painter who did not pre-fit my truck prior to paint.

Yelp, engine compartment looks great and it confirms that I'm painting my inner fender wells the same color as the exterior.

Re: Re-Pop...jeez...should be call Re-Fit!
it was ticky but i installed mine with no real problems i put the big bolt that goes in the cab in first and then the center wheel well bolt followed be the bolts that go in the core support (they where all left loose) and then went around the wheel well installing the rest of the bolts and they actually went on pretty easy and im not standing up for repop as i hate them too and use nos most of the time

Re: Re-Pop...jeez...should be call Re-Fit!
Looks great under that hood.I remember when re-pro was non-existing.We were glad to have it when it hit the scene. Now,we cuss it and wish it away,go figure.Body fitment has never been a "bolt-on" experience. When it is,you`re lucky. An old rule with car building is get it together, work out the bugs, then disassemble for paint. That`s where the whole "In suede" thing comes from we see on ratrods and other projects.I`m just glad to see a quality stamping. If we can "make" them work, that`s all I ask.Maybe it`ll get better, but I doubt it.At first, they were saying repro would kill the used part market.Ain`t happnin`.

Re: Re-Pop...jeez...should be call Re-Fit!
I deceided to do this last year, I went ahead and assembled my whole
front clip knowing it would just have to come apart again before paint, the drivers side re-poop inner fits pretty decent, but the passenger is a pain in the arse, I am glad that I did try to fit everything in advance, I found several minor issues, I still haven't fixed, that would scratch up the fresh paint, I still haven't done, when she someday gets finished

Are the inner fenders no longer available through GM? The last ones I bought I got from the local Chevy dealer.

Re: Re-Pop...jeez...should be call Re-Fit!
There are actually shims that go behind the inner fenders where that back bolt goes in. They need to be there or if you tighten them down tight the hood lines will get al messed up.

Re: Re-Pop...jeez...should be call Re-Fit!
My inner fenders were both a pain when I was trial fitting them. One was OEM, one was aftermarket. Both required lots of patience. I hear the inner fenders are the worse of any piece for inconsistencies.

Re: Re-Pop...jeez...should be call Re-Fit!
I had to replace my passenger side because of battery rust. I got an OEM from Brothers... it just droppd in, no adjustment whatsoever. I had to buy a repop grill because the plater ruined my original... MAN... what a PAIIINNN! (but its finally in)sigh

Re: Re-Pop...jeez...should be call Re-Fit!
I will win...I do know that...was just saying what a pain this repop stuff is. Next time I will pre-fit everything. It just would have been easier that way. Will I use it again....yes if I have too. Thanks for your nice comments on my truck.

Re: Re-Pop...jeez...should be call Re-Fit!
Can't use a hammer at this point. LOL!!! Those inner fenders were $325.00 a piece to paint. The chrome plated ones you can buy seem like a good deal when you add the cost of the re-pop inners and then the paint!!! I think the red looks better than the chrome would have ....JUST should have pre-fit!!!! I'm going to remove the battery box (there is a bolt there that doesn't line up) and then I need to enlarge the two outside front holes and the bottom wheel arch hole. Can you say P-I-T-A!!!! And say it loud!!! LOL! But.....I will win!
