1968 CST SWB anniversary gold

I purchased a 68 CST anniversary gold shorty. This is my 3 project and my best buddy and I are flying cross country to north Carolina to pick it up. Just want to see if anyone is interested in me keeping a photo journal of this once in a life time road trip. Let me know and I'll start something. It
May turn out pretty cool

Thanks. Mo

Re: 1968 CST SWB anniversary gold

I'm super pumped! I have always dreamnt about this and I figured a bunch of us did too! And yes it was in central NC. I got super lucky and I took a big gamble but I think it's an incredible truck.
I m currently working on a 72 Cheyenne super 4x4 two tone and felt a little greedy... Buyers remorse and what have you but it's turning into an awsome thing. I just wanted to share the trip and the experience with the fellas in this forum because it's a great group and thought you would appreciate it.
I'm in the process of getting set up with instagram so you can check in. I'll keep you all posted! Cheers

Sounds like a lot of fun. Eat a bunch of man food along the way, fart on each other in the truck ..

Pick up a mafia hitch hiker and then sell the truck for a moped!! Good times a coming whoohoo. You have to take pictures along the way.... and on a side note don't sell the truck for a moped

Also, is it odd that it has black interior? would that not make an anniversary package truck?

Re: 1968 CST SWB anniversary gold

Flying from LAX landing in Greensboro. Picking up the truck, driving to the Atlantic. Heading east to Nashville, north to St louis, west to Kansas City Denver, Utah, AZ, stopping in Vegas and then home to the central coast of cali.
Places I want to check out: Jack Daniels distillery, Nashville, Springfiled armory factory, baseball game in St louis, football game in Kansas, telluride, Zion, Mesa Verde, Grand Canyon, (Treausres) in vegas...haha and then home.
please feel free mention places you have been to and I must stop. Looking for a goodguys show maybe??
Thanks a bunch.

If you route through Ashville, NC stop at the Biltmore estate. Incredible place.

Why don't you tell us your route and we'll give you better suggestions.

I just picked my 72 up 900 miles away and drove it back, all went well except for the blow out I had 30 miles from where I started. No Jack not tools, but I did have a spare, which long story short I got mounted. So check those tires, if they are 8-10 years old, do yourself a favor and buy some new ones before you leave.

Have fun

Re: 1968 CST SWB anniversary gold

Arrived tired and hungry but our host was a real gem. He picked us up at the airport and showed us what southern hospitality is all about. I couldn't wait to see ol' Caroline so went straight to the mans house and saw her. A true survives and a rare pick up in deed. Absolutely the perfect truck to restore. Z10, you be happy to know that it has brand new tires and was in absolutely great shape... Minor wrinkles here and there but not bad for a 40 pluse year old truck. Were gonna start heading to Nashville tomorrow so if anyone has any suggestion we would love to hear them.
I'll keep posting along the way and try to post pics ASAP. Thanks guys

Re: 1968 CST SWB anniversary gold

Leroy, bummed to know you wanted it that bad. take comfort in knowing it will be bone stock with steel wheels and hubcaps like it came out of the factory. I'm going to add some accessories thati have been saving for a truck like this such as am/fm radio and tilt colum, maybe a tach... but i have the 72 cheyenne super swb 4x4 in the oven and this will be daily driven for a while.
I feel very lucky to be able to be part of this trucks history and i will do my best to share the progress in the resto with other members of this forum in the futre.

more to come! cheeers

Have a blast that is one long haul though. I thought going from SouthEast Illinois to Nebraska was a haul good luck. It will sure be worth it and the memories will last forever getting it home.
