Re: What engine option???

CE in the vin means V-8....not sure about the 6's number. Your glove box sticker [SPID] should have info on it if your motor was an option.

Re: What engine option???

Yeah just confused cause when my dad bought me this truck it had a 283 in it and I wished now that he kept the engine instead of swapping it.....I was leaning towards another 283 I found on orig 67 eng from oil pan to carb for $200 still thinking about that....

Re: What engine option???

a 68 would have a 307 base model, and 327 or 396 optional.
If the spid is there, then you'll know. A listed engine would answer the Q for obviouse reasons, and no mention, would be a 307.

Re: What engine option???

Not according to what I have found. The 307 replaced the 283 in '68. From http://www.pickuptrucks.com/html/his..._segment8.html

The 1968 pickups carried over with only minor changes except for two issues: one, Chevrolet designers added a new Custom Comfort and Convenience cab option slotting it in between the Standard cab and the CST cab. Secondly, the 307 V8 engine replaced the 283 as the standard V8 and the 396 V8 was added as an optional V8. The 327 V8 also continued as an option.
