Working the pinion angle

Well,
Finally think I know why I have my vibration @ 55. Took some measurements of the driveline and found my trans is at 4 degrees and the rear pinion is @ 7. There is a shop close to me who is making shims so lets see how this turns out.

Re: Working the pinion angle

That definitely sounds like it would vibrate by not getting adequate cancellation.

Re: Working the pinion angle

Well,
The vibration is history, put in two four degree shims from Carls and got the pinion to 3.2 degrees and it rides like a new one. Carl is a great person to deal with, I ordered my Shims Tuesday and they showed up Wednsday afternoon. You cant beat that. Nice shims too, I wanted to take a pic but the wifey had the camera. Didnt have to move the panhard bar at all.

Re: Working the pinion angle

Just one question,... why do you think the pinion angle was off so far?
What had you done to the suspension and/or tranny mount?
Anything?

Re: Working the pinion angle

I have no idea why it was off so much, everything went back together smooth, you could tell it was off just by looking at it, I verified it with a digital meter. Its a 3 speed manual mount, everything is stock besides the drive shaft, makes no sense, but I am going to look at everything again to see if there is anything that doesnt look right.
