The Story of my Truck

Here's the story ...
When I was 9 years old, my Dad purchased this 1 year old 1970 GMC Pickup truck. At the age of 12, my Dad passed away, and my Mom kept the pickup truck in her garage. after a few years she knew that I would be driving soon ... and she could simply give me the keys to the pickup truck, and not have to purchase me a vehicle. At the age of 16 -- I drove this truck all thru high school and college. At the age of 21, I moved about 1,000 miles away to the sunshine state of Florida. My Mom drove the truck about 10 times over the next 5 or 6 years, usually when she needed to haul something to the house. After that, the truck was parked in the garage for the next 18 years.

Last year, I had the pickup delivered to my home in Florida. I spent several months getting it mechanically ready to be put back on the road. When completed, I contacted one of our Board Members, MotherTrucker. I drove my pickup to him, told him the story ... and here are a few pictures of what he did. Anyone who knows Ed ... knows that he is a great person. Someone who you can trust, and he's very honest. He is very good at what he does, including parts of all sorts (both new & used), as well as a complete body & paint shop. I did not have Ed do his "usual" to my truck -- because I will not be using the pickup as a Show Truck (although when he was finished with it, it certainly looked like one). I plan on actually using my pickup, and driving it to work ... just like my Dad did 34 years ago.

Here are some after photo's ... and once again, I must take off my hat off to the MotherTrucker. He is truly a great guy, and I would strongly recommend him for these type of projects. He takes great pride in his work, and provides a quality job at a reasonable price!

The biggest reward in this line of work or profession is the people who recognize and appreciate true craftsmanship, when I chose this field over 40 years ago it was the norm today its become somewhat rare!

That is a beautiful truck, with a beatiful story and a happy ending.
Great work on that truck Ed. If you were in CT I would bring my truck to you. I don't trust just a regular old body shop that doesn't take pride in these trucks.

And "can't we all just get along" as the great Rodney King would say

Chevy and GMC are like cousins, aren't we. I love them both, even though I only own Chevy's. Those GMC's are really hard to find in the northeast. The Chevy's seem like they are not as rare.

That is some nice work and a functional beauty.

And I see you park in the driveway like you're still 16.
