Question OPINIONS NEEDED ! towing mirror delima for my 67 C10

well here is the deal I want to buy a car trailer this spring and maybe tow my 67 camaro around with my 67 C10 , probably short distance local car cruz in's ? maybe further but anyway if you have seen my camaro and truck this will be a cool setup the 67 C10 with 67 camaro on a trailer behind it !!
but now is the bummer I am not gonna tow my camaro 10 FEET !! without trailer mirrors so I can see !! but I like the look of my C10 like it is with only the little round door mirror on the drivers side and no mirror on pass side ,
OK if I do put mirror's on it I want the west coast JR white painted one's like in the pic below and I want you guy's opinion will that ruin the look's of my truck ? because once put on these will be permenant as you have to drill hole's ? ok let's hear what you guy's think ???????

Re: OPINIONS NEEDED ! towing mirror delima for my 67 C10

I've towed several cars with my '69 C10, and I can see OK with the same mirrors you have. I'd add another round to the pass side and roll with it. Those Jr West Coast mirrors look tough on a 3/4 or 1 tons, but they will look like crap on your truck IMO.

I agree with 67_C30. I believe it would look like crap with west coast.
How about making a set, using the same style brackets you have now, that hold it to the door but with bigger mirrors. This way you don't have to drill extra holes in your doors.Does your pass. door have the holes there for a factory mirror? Thats my .02

Re: OPINIONS NEEDED ! towing mirror delima for my 67 C10

some good point here !! keep u'm coming !!
the thing with the little stock mirrors like my driver side one is that it's to small you can't see good to back up ,,
I just thought of this the other day when I watched a guy with a uhaul box trying to back it up , I am a good driver and can use side mirrors well but I just don't feel they will look good ? man , may have to just forget this ??

Re: OPINIONS NEEDED ! towing mirror delima for my 67 C10

I like the Jr mirrors but they have blind areas. Make sure you get a trailer with brakes since your driving a short box truck. It will help you be a little more stable.

They make towing mirrors that aren't permanent. They don't bolt on, but they sort of clamp on to your fender and fender well. You used to see em back when families drove wagons and towed their travel trailers.

I think those would look kinda cool...old timey, and you take em off when you aren't towing so you can use your stock mirrors.

I have a set of those round stock mirrors like you do for my panel. I figured its going to be hard enough to see with stock mirrors as it is, and much worse when I'm towing my car trailer. I found a set of the clamp on towing mirrors on craigs list for 25 bucks. They are chrome and have a stamped in chevron design on the back.

I have the same mirror arms on my longhorn, except on both sides. i installed 6 inch convex mirrors on there. Took some getting used to , but they are seriously awesome to use. Bolted right on in place of the factory heads.

Re: OPINIONS NEEDED ! towing mirror delima for my 67 C10

my 2 cents is to go to your local parts shop and buy a magnet like is used for CB antennas and rig up a nice big mirror to it. They have the cb antenna mounts that use 3 large magnets that are for the huge whip antennas. I cant see why that wouldnt hold well enough. Just add a twenty dollar mirror from the same place and your golden. IMO of course. I do agree however that the white mirrors you pictured would look BAD. There's my .02

Good Luck with the decision.

Your truck was available with dual mirrors. Get the correct RH arm, then get the largest mirrors with a single attaching stud, like your little round one.
There are some bigger ones available from all the vendors...take a look...either black or stainless.

I think I would go with adding a pass side and larger heads on stock arms.

First off I want to say...The Jr mirrors would ruin the look of your truck in my opinion. Don't...please dont do that.

Look at these they are clip on's that can be taken on and off. My dad used these all the time back when he pulled camper's.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Those are the ones I was talking about. Good job finding a pic, I couldnt find one anywhere. Clip on and off and no damage to your truck. And you can keep the truck the way you like it now.

When you tow, replace the round heads with the later/larger rectangular heads that came on those arms. They have about the same area as the Jr RVs.All trucks came with two mirrors.Yours would be the first one I`ve seen with only one.The passenger mirror is never listed as an option.

I promise this truck did not come with a passenger mirror of any kind , I had the door's stripped to bare metal and no mirror hole's have ever been on the door ,,
the spid on this truck listed a heater and a .373 rear gear
it had no passenger sunvisor either , let's say it was a less expensive model (LOL)

Yeah that is the exact idea I was talking about. You could paint them to match, or do you have a chrome mirror. Anyways most guys wouldn't notice the difference, and it almost looks factory.

I do alot of towing and to keep that truck looking as nice as it is, I wouldn't change anything. If you put the camaro on a flatbed with 14" tires(that car is not that heavy) you should still have a clear view. What may help and can be a temp fix is to put a extended rearview mirror that will cover you blind spots. Nice car and truck

Don't do the Big mirrors in the second pic. You need to make sure you can see behind you, but there has to be a better way. I like the idea of stock arms with a bigger head.

I vote against towning a car like a Camaro anyway. I don't think hot rods in general should be towed.

Boats belong on trailers

Until one guy can drive 2 vehicles @ the same time..... trailers are necessary. I like the idea of bringing both out to a show/cruise. It would be even better using a restored but 'vintage' car trailer.

That being said, I've towed several vehicles w/my 68swb w/those 'war-of-the-worlds' style round-mirrors. They're not optimal, but they get the job done for their limited use. If I need to see behind me when backing in, I either look through the back glass or I open the door as I'm backing up. It wasn't a huge hurdle to overcome, even w/a 3spd standard trans.

Now if you're just aching to install those West Coast Jr's, that's your choice. I wouldn't do it . . ..... but it's not my truck.

Re: OPINIONS NEEDED ! towing mirror delima for my 67 C10

Just don`t back up.
I really like the classy idea of the`67 truck pulling the`67 Camaro. It`s about the combo, not about being afraid to drive the car.Heck,in many ways you`re safer driving the car than trailering. Those 69/70 mirror heads will give way more area.If you really need a wider view, consider having originals custom made/altered in a longer shaft.Vibration may be an issue. But,not when backing.Wassamatta, neck too stiff to turn around like 1/2 the drivers out there?
In`67,the heater was listed as an option.A carry-over from earlier days.I think there was a time when all ratios were options, too.I believe you about the single mirror.Something I never knew ior saw before.Ya learned me!

i agree with the larger heads but there are some real low quality ones out there like the ones pictured if you go that route try to find the later factory ones, they are much better quality than the parts store junk. if you can't find them go to a truck stop or large truck dealer rather than waisting your money on junk
