How was your August weather?

Should be the hottest and driest of the summer right? Well ours sure wasnt, plus we got plenty of rain. Pretty cool even up here in the PNW.

Plus somehow I came down with Covid. Got my shots and boosters because job at the time required it, still got Covid. Couple years later I get it again WTHeck?
We are seldom out in public but last week we decided to go to the Seattle Aquarium. Place was packed so thats the only thing I can think of of where I could have picked it up. My immune system must suck.

Re: How was your August weather?

LOL, yeah. We have friends and family down your way. Id rather have our cool weather than living that close to the sun like you guys =)

Still would have been nice to have a little extra warmth

Wow you sound like you live down the street, I'm even thinking I got covid or it's just an annoying cold/flu.
Never got any shots.

Overall a decent August here IMO and it even came with an excuse to be lazy and lay in bed watching HDTV.

Re: How was your August weather?

High 90s here most of the month and no rain in 5 or 6 weeks. Grass is burned up. I may be done with mowing this year though.
Different strains of covid come around every few months. Even though we are vacinated against a strain of covid, we are not against more recent ones. At least they aren't as deadly as the 19 was.

Lot of rain first maybe week. Then its been high 90s or triple digits. AND TONS of humidity. Been a little cooler last day or too only low 90s. Still got humidity . Next couple days are supposed to rain. Do pretty muxed up,but normal for down here..

Re: How was your August weather?

It has rained here. Somewhere between 2~3 inches. Any August rain is bonus.
Temps have been normal with several cool days.

Abilene set an all-time high of 133 - apparently we're on the other side of that furnace...

Re: How was your August weather?

Getting in to the 90s here is pretty rare but in the recent past it seems like its been happening more and more, not this summer. In July we had one low 90s day and a few high 80's. I feel like its not summer unless we get a bunch of scorchers for us to gripe about lol.

I know you guys that are always in the 90s and 100s are telling me to pound sand

EDIT Ouch,133!!! Abilene Abilene sweatiest girls Ive ever seen (lol sorry)

Re: How was your August weather?

It was much hotter than what this shows. The guys in manufactoring went to a 6 to 2:30 day to beat the heat.
It can be 10 degrees hotter the more North you are. And 10 degrees cooler the higher you are. In elevation that is.
It snowed this week up at 7000'

Re: How was your August weather?

I leave today from Phoenix. Yesterday was about 110. I was old school enough to drive down last Sunday without a AC charge in my Yukon. I learned a lot. it has been a great visit. the drive down from Holbrook AZ on 377 south to Phoenix is the coolest road I have been on in a long time. life is good.

Yep that is a great drive. That’s normally how we get to Phoenix from northern NM. I once did part of that stretch from Phoenix to Payson in my Camaro with a pack of 10 or so other Camaros at a nice “leasurly” pace, those corners are a blast in a car that can handle them properly. I’ve heard rumors of Camaros and Vettes running an average speed of 120 mph+ going thru that stretch during Covid when no one was on the roads. I wasn’t present to validate that time.

Our August weather in the north west half (I currently live in 2 different places) of NM has had a few 100* days but mostly in the low to mid 90’s. This week has been cooler, today it’s only about 80*. All week it’s supposed to be below 90. In all the years I’ve lived in NM it seems the last week or two of August is when the weather slowly starts to change. First a little cooler at night, then into early September when the day time temps start to fade some too. We’ve had the cooler at night already this week and a little of last. All in all it hasn’t been that terribly hot this year compared to other years and we have gotten a very good amount of rain compared to other years as well, that helps the temps.

Re: How was your August weather?

In Northern Nevada, June was like June, July like August (hot), and August like September (nice).
