Windshield Frame - Needs some TLC

Hey there. Was hoping some of you had some suggestions on straightening out my Windshield frame. A tree in the back yard really had it out for the Blazer so they had words.

I have some pics here. A friend of mine suggested welding a bolt to the top of the frame and use a porta-power attached to the celing to straighten it out. Any suggestions?

Wow that happed to mine last windstorm too but not that bad cracked the top, bent drip rail and shattered windshield. That sucks. Maybe new frame?

Don't think attaching something to a wood ceiling joist would be a good idea. Steel beam could be used. If it were mine, I'd take it to a body shop and see if they can straighten it. You might be better off looking for a piece of windshield frame and having it cut and welded in. Correct dimensions critical for glass reinstall and top.

True could be hard to find too. How bad was the top damaged? When mine got hit they gave me 1100 bucks to fix it cause you cant find them. That was after they relaced winshield and deductable. I will fix top this summer when soft top is on.

Yah after you mentioned it, I did look on ebay. I have seen the up there before, but nothing was available. Called a couple of ads on craigslist. One up north of me in Stanwood had one but he said it was rusted out completely.

Strangely enough, the top is fine. Looks like the frame absorbed most of the impact.

If you can't find a frame, my suggestion would be to remove the top piece from the frame, straighten out the frame, then straighten out the top piece, and reinstall the top piece. It will be a little bit of work, but in the end will produce the best repair.

Thank you Turp. Great suggestion. Been working on getting it to look right. Getting closer. I didn't know the top piece came out. Any threads that have done this before that you might know of?

You will have to drill out the spot welds to remove it. They will be under the seam sealer in the front, you can see where it has separated towards the end. And along the top edge where they overlap. The whole frame is several pieces that have been spot welded together. This isn't difficult to do if you study the part to see how it is assembled, and try to think ahead, so you don't create more work by drilling through too many layers of metal etc. If you can find someone who has done full panel replacement, by drilling out spot welds, to give you some guidance with this, you should not have any problems with a successful repair.

My bad Brandoneh : pick and pull tacoma 71 k5 no top no windshield and not much time left before crusher I have no clue on price I hope this explains that I want to help rather than capitalize on a member ! if I PAY I can capitalize all day now that sounds fair to me but u need help right now so run with it homie
