Removing Headliner Trim

How do I remove the headliner trim tabs from their slots WITHOUT breaking anything?

I ran a thorough search here and finally found a picture of the tabs but its not clear enough for me to determine how they are held in the slot.

Do I just pry them out with a screwdriver?

Or…

????

thanx

Re: Removing Headliner Trim

It seems like breaking them is part of removing them.
Seriously, they are so brittle at this age that it is about impossible to get them out without at least cracking a moulding. All you can do is try to carefully pry out near the clip spots with something like a plastic blade.

Make sure the trim is warm before you try it. I have had good luck with a heat gun set on low. Just don't get it hot enough to melt it. I would think a hair dryer would work also.
