Disc brake help!!!

I am having some real difficulty finding a disc brake kit for my 72 K10. We are keeping the rear 12 bolt (currently drum) and the Dana 44 (currently disc.) I would like to replace the front and rear brakes with larger diameter disc brakes. We are going to use 17" or 18" wheels (6 on a 5.5) on this build under a 4 inch spring lift with 33" tires. I have contacted Baer, Wilwood, Brembo, TCE, SSBC, etc... and they do not have anything that would work with my current setup.

Has anyone found a kit that will work on the K10?

Re: Disc brake help!!!

I've been looking for a couple years now, and haven't found any type of kit to fit any of my K series. I figured that I'll just live with what I have, or custom fab something when I get the time.

Re: Disc brake help!!!

I find it hard to believe that after being around for over 40 years, no one has made a disc brake kit for this style of truck!!!! There has to be one out there somewhere???

Re: Disc brake help!!!

have you tried classic performance products (cpp)?? that is where i & fastfun both got our kits. it was a fairly easy install. our trucks though are 2wd....
you might try & get a later model rear & then see if there is a after market kit for it...

good luck!

Re: Disc brake help!!!

Yes, I tried CPP. They have a lot of inventory for 2WD trucks but nothing for 4WD trucks. Is there a larger market for disc brakes when dealing with D60's and 14 bolts?

Re: Disc brake help!!!

azsmokey. I changed out the brakes on my 1970 K10. I used The Chrome Guy in Glendale. He had a kit but I only have a 4" lift and 32's. I only did the front and left the backs drum. Works great. I live in Glendale also if you want to check it out I can meet you somewhere.

Re: Disc brake help!!!

After a lot of looking around, I found kits for the front and rear at SSBC. The kits are a little more pricey but are good quality. I have used SSBC before and they have been worth the money.

The rear kit:
Part # A126

The front kit:
Part # A126-10
