How do I get the glass out???

Hello
Just wondering the easiest way to get the front and rear glass out?
The back window is a slider and I want to take the whole unit out as one!

front, pull the lock strip out of the weatherstripping channel, then push out the window. Rear, cut the gasket and pull/push out the window assembly

If the rear has a lock strip, it should come out similar to the front. If you cut the gasket, you will need a new one.

Did any of the rear windows on our trucks come with a lock strip? All the ones I have seen have not had them.

When pulling or putting in new windows, I usually use new seals...safe insurance against leaks plus new ones look so much better.

mine did

its quite hard to see without the chrome peice in there. a box from lmc showed up yesterday with all new rubber for everything. YESS

My 86 has a lock strip on the rear window...

swift kick with a steel toe boot attached to you foot?, hey you said as an assembly, but really, i would either say use big suction cup glass pullers and remove the seals, or just get some piano wire on wood dowels and push one end thru and pretty much saw thru the front seal with the wire

sometimes if you can find a glass guy off of work but with thier van, offer like 20-30 to pull the glass and all, or at least cut the seals with the proper tools

Another bit of advice, if there has ever been any sealant put in the channel, make sure you put more in. It will leak terribly if none is put in. If there has never been any put in, you should be fine. I usually change the chrome lock strip to black for two reasons. The chrome plastic gets really brittle with age, and will most like y need to be replaced, and because I like the way the black looks compared to the chrome. There were actually 3 different looks, the early "Custom" trim level trucks did not use the lockstrip, but had a flap that folded over and locked the rubber into place. My 73 had that, and it has a cleaner look than the locking strip type, IMO.
