I6 to V8 swap
Ok, here is the deal....doing a I6 to V8 swap...got the correct V8 engine stands, trying to bolt the engine in and it looks way too far forward. When bolted in, the back of the intake is 6-6 1/2" away from the firewall. You can see way too much of the trans. I have no knowledge of the clearance of the V8's in these trucks, as I have never owned one B4. It is a 69 1/2 ton. Does this sound correct? I can put the engine stands back where the I6 ones were and move the engine back about 2"'. What is correct?
Thnx for the input. |

Re: I6 to V8 swap
yup. just measured mine 6.5" from back of intake to firewall. has a 5.7, originally a 283 stock motor mount stands in stock V8 location.
You can move it back if you like plenty of people use the I6 location but its a bit tight to get to the dist for maintenance.

Re: I6 to V8 swap
Yea that V8 goes forward. You'll also have exhaust clearance issues if you set it back I believe.

Re: I6 to V8 swap
Thnx for the replies...I thought that it was right it just looks wierd w/ all that room between the back of the engine and the firewall. It will prob look better after I get the Dist in...being an HEI it will take up that space well.
