What did you accomplish this weekend, ending 9-9-07?

Hey all, I know it's early, but I'm pooped so I figured I'd let y'all know why I'm pooped.

I FINALLY installed the tranny cooler I've been holding on to for over a year now. I also bumped my radiator up from a 3 row to a 4 row.

Tips for others who wish to do this, it's much easier to have the core support out of the truck! It's impossible to get bolts into the bottom holders (I ended up using pop rivets) AND you have to bend (or cut out) a small section of the core support. I bent mine for now, but will properly fix it someday Also, the radiator shroud fits... but tight. You need to tug at it a bit to get the bolts in the bottom.

I also took a steam cleaner to the rug and seat.

Thinking about painting the roof white tomorrow....

I did some touch up to the flat black on the 68, gonna work on doing the drivers door tomorrow, then it'll all be one color for the first time in at least 6 years! I think I'm also going to buy a new battery for it, and start working on the rear brakes.

Re: What did you accomplish this weekend, ending 9-9-07?

I sprayed a bedliner in a friends 02 f 250. Then went up the street to check on my neighbor, who was in an accident. He was pulling another neighbors trailer, and hurt it pretty bad. He is fine, just shook up. Had the trailer brought back to my house, and pulled the axle, springs, and left fender off, to measure for new parts. Then put new rear wheel bearings in the left rear of yet another neighbors 91 Dodge Spirit. Tomorrow I am going to put corner strobes in the neighbors (with the trailer) Dodge dually. My neighbors sure do keep me busy...

I got my new tires put on yesterday and took her for a little spin without any plates. That was fun after just about a year of restoration.

Cleaned and painted the underside of my bed and remounted it. Patched my core support and have it mostly repainted. Found and cleaned my fan shroud, as well as cleaning the undercoating off the passenger inner fender so I can patch it later. Not sure how much I'll get done today.

Omni: NICE!! wish I had that much(clean) garage space.
Bluk: Love the raised white letter tires.
Glad to see I am not alone, many of us seem to have non truck chores this weekend. Mine? The wifes Mazda had a check engine light come on, replaced the bank 1 O2 sensor and cleaned and re-gapped her plugs, Check light is now gone, so now she's happy so the whole house gets to be happy now too LOL

Re: What did you accomplish this weekend, ending 9-9-07?

Got the shop cleaned up yesterday, found some tools I forgot I had! Worked on the tractor a little bit too, now the hydraulic steering works like it's suppose to.

Today, the shed gets cleaned out and organized so that I can get some of the larger truck parts out of the shop and into the shed. Then I'll move the rolling chassis out of the big shop down to the small shop. Then I can have more room to start squirting primer!

Re: What did you accomplish this weekend, ending 9-9-07?

Not much the truck this weekend. I'm coming to the realization that winter is coming and I havent got any of my house projects finished. So I spent all day Saturday painting and caulking.

I did get the front clip on the 72 Friday night. Once I get everthing aligned I can finish welding in the cab corners and rockers. Hopefuly I can pickup the new heads this week and get the motor running again. Its getting old pushing it in and out of the garage.

I was able to put the my custom longhorn bed back on the truck. I made my own longhorn from two beds, two metal floors. I also added fuel filler doors.
I painted the bed rustoleum black hammer finish.

I got the painting done...just rattle-can, and a lot of touch up, so don't mind the "stripes" I cleaned up the rust as good as I could, and re-sprayed the flat black so it has a little "protection". I also tracked down some wiring gremlins and got them taken care of.

Finally got around to installing a new Pinion seal in my front axle. That went great so I also pulled the rear cover and cleaned it up and repainted it and got it back on with too much black silicone, but the truck should be leak free now!

Plus went Junkyard hunting and found a couple of nice parts.
