Re: dip stick tube

My local parts houses did not carry them. Had to go to a dealer and order it. Pre 80's were a larger diameter. I had to replace my block and didn't know that. When I did ge the right one it was loose so I used weather strip adhesive. So far so good. Got that idea from someone on this site.

Re: dip stick tube

I clamped mine with a pair of vice grips, they slowly bbanged on the vice grips with a hammer and it came out.

Order one from the dealer, they are cheaper and hold up better than the aftermarket ones. I know I broke enough Mr Gasket (and other brands) ones.

Re: dip stick tube

Get from the dealer. Mine (a big block) has a little bracket that's welded to the tube. The bracket is secured lusing one of the exhaust manifolt bolts. Once the bolt is removed, all you do is pull.
