Not posting this cause it's on Evil Bay

Just wanted to make that clear, I posted this cause we have been talking
about different ways to do the hatch glass, etc......., etc....... If you look
at his pic's it appears that the tailgate and all is one piece? handle's gotta
go it looks cheasy, but I wonder what he did to make this work? creative.

Re: Not posting this cause it's on Evil Bay

I know what you are saying but he does not mention it and that handle is just a pull not a switch or latch or??? I wonder if it is still a lift gate but with his primer job it just looks like a one piece. I am not sure if I even like the idea of hanging anything off a stock fiberglass lift gate!

That's what I was thinking. I had thought about doing that on my suburban. It would probably be easier than what I'm doing, .

I'd think it's gotta be glass in order to lift it. Ugly in my opinion, but different.

What do you do if you want to take the top off? I'd also think if you were out 4x4ing and got any flex, you'd crack that whole thing.

I was thinking all`glass, too.Unless he took an outer skin like the smoothies they sell and added reinforcement.
Good idea on a`Burb.I wouldn`t want it on a Balzer. Not for the reasons I`d want a Blazer for.Like bouncey mentioned,"Let the sun shine, let the sun shine in,the sun shining,da da..."

EDIT:Aren`t the hatches proned to cracking at the hinges as it is?

If you look at one of the other pics of the inside top. It shows the bottom of the lift gate with some speakers boxes fabbed in. My guess is that it has to be glass.

I know that the outer skin of my 05 Tahoe is glass, you can't get the ribbon magnets to stick!

Nice truck on the outside but the interior has to go...

Re: Not posting this cause it's on Evil Bay

There was a guy that lived near me that owned a glass shop and he would build street rods from time to time and custom built a solid piece of glass with hydraulic lift shocks like the new vehicles and built hinges and all and used an s-10 latching mechanism to lock the glass. Was pretty neat. His son totaled the 2wd Blazer two weeks after turning 16. He rolled that bad boy. Was gorgeous too. Teal green and light grey interior. Wish I had pics of it.

Bigger pic isn't much clearer.

In this pic, you can see the 'modified' gate support.

Lots of home brew stuff going on with that one...
