67 Panel Project Saga
Well we are back to work on the 1967 Panel Project and hopefuly it will be done by next spring. Scratching my butt looking at it I came up with another idea. I was thinking of cutting out 10" out from behind the rear wheel wells. I have a photoshop picture to show you how it would look. I am on the fence with this, and it adds a couple thousand dollars to the build... but the look may be worth it.. Let me know what you guys think... WES

Re: 67 Panel Project Saga
Wes, The bobbed look is nice but I can't see making it smaller inside. A while back I did some "what if" chops for a Panel/Suburban on 133" chassis. Pushing the wheels back 6" made a big differance visually while keepig the body mostly stock. My plan was to use semi-tucked dual rear wheels with really small fenders like that small batch of 57 dually panels had. Can't find the pictures but I could make up a new set if you really want to see them.

Re: 67 Panel Project Saga
How funny this comes up. I was just discussing this with someone.
I think my next project will be a panel. But think that they are too long, just by a little. I think you should hack out the 12 inches.

Re: 67 Panel Project Saga
I am still on the fence. Boy looking at the blue photoshop, I tend to lean toward the long look. However the shortened look is sweat too..... Man, I need to get this panel done so I don't keep flip flopping about it. Decisions, decisions... WES

Re: 67 Panel Project Saga
Personally, I don't care for the look-BUT--I'd like to see a Panel photoshopped onto a short wheel base frame. I think that might look pretty cool.

Re: 67 Panel Project Saga
Don't know if this will help or not....I have a short panel myself. Went the hard way, used a long bed pick up and the upper part of a rusted out burb. I cut it down to a factory short bed wheel base, but similar proportions as what you are considering. Thought a few pics of a real truck might help you get the idea of the overall proportions you could have if you decide to cut yours.

Re: 67 Panel Project Saga
Here, I did it up as a 115"wb bobbed and a stock length body on a 133"wb (1-ton Longhorn panel).

Re: 67 Panel Project Saga
That just makes me think Blazer. Kinda like it but I prefer the stock length.

Re: 67 Panel Project Saga
Of course I'd prefer a 4x4 133" kind of like this.

Anyone still like murals on panel trucks?
