Ignition switch
I got told today that the 70-72 trucks had the option for the switch to be mounted in the column is that true?

Nope. Not until the '73's did the trucks have ignition on the column. Somebody was mis-informed.

the guy said he had a 71 and his dad had a 72 that the switches were in the column i had never heard of the that until 73 but he insistead that it was an option.

I never heard of that option. I've owned and looked at these trucks for more years that I care to say, and I've never seen one with the column ignition unless it was converted.
If it was an option, it was a rare one. |

I think whoever told the guy that was pulling his leg... Someone probably changed the column and told him that when they sold him the truck. If it was an option it would be listed on the glove box sticker..... LockDoc

its not my truck its a guy that i work with and he is having trouble getting an ignition switch that fits, i've never heard of it either but i thought maybe i had missed it, that is why i thought i'd ask the experts.

Or maybe a photo of the column so we can ID it and tell you what year parts to ask for.
It wasn't avalible till 73, period. |

how can I find out the build specs for these trucks the guy im arguing with says that his and his dads trucks both had column mouted switches and he swears that his dads was bought brand new how can i find an options listing or specs to prove him wrong or do i just keep arguing with himuntil he proves me wrong?
