Frame on restoration
Is anyone else making their truck just nice. My truck runs great and I am going to fill in the few small dents and get it painted. Who else is sort of restoring their truck. I can't do a full one because I don't have time or money to do a frame off. I am hoping that I can still make it a real nice truck anyway.

Absolutely a good option! Mine is a daily driver so I do projects to make it better that I can pull off between shifts at work. Very rewarding to drive between projects plus you get to test each mod independently. Good luck!

I did my 67 7 years ago took it all apart but did not pull the cab just jacked it up cleaned and painted it and put new urethane bushings , makes a good job , frame off is more for show , car shows dont do anything but make people mad 85% of the people that enter a car show leave upset I only do cruise inns fun nobody gets mad no need for a frame off ,,,,

That's what I did on my squarebody.
The nice thing about a pickup truck is...6 or 8 bolts to pull the box and you're halfway to a "frame off" anyway! I did it between May and September in the driveway - it never made it inside the garage. You can read about it here if you like: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=342926 K

The only reason we did a frame off on my 67 was it went from a C-20 to a C-10 short bed. When I do the 75 C-30 dually it won't be since I want to be able to drive it..

This is what I am doing as well. I just make a list of stuff to do and do it little by little. I don't have the time, money or the space to do a frame off.

Jealous of you guys.. mine is currently frame off.. has been for 4 yrs now. But it wasnt a drivable truck when I got it anyway. Should be up and running this yr. :-)

I did find a shop that will loan me one of their lifts to do some cleaning, frame member painting, under coating etc this summer. Looking forward to that.

Since we're selling our "new" truck this one will have to be kept to one day or one weekend at the most projects. Disc brakes/tires are 1st.

i started just fixing things. then I was going to just pull a few panels to paint. then I found some rust. Now the cab is about to come off...

im doing mine this way. its nice enough to not need a full resto, and im not trying to win car shows. I have been at it for 14 months now, but I have been able to drive it most of that time. Still needs body and paint, but otherwise its pretty nice now.
