To replace the whole floor ?
So I'm going to have to pay someone to do the patch panels for me since I'm not the greatest welder. I need to replace all the cab supports, rocker panels, maybe the inner panel, and a rear floor corners. I purchased all the parts and now realized it might have been smarter to get a whole new floor from GMC pauls for 380. So my question now is would it be more work and money on my part to have him just replace those panels other then just having him put in a new complete floor . I can't send them back cause I bought everything last year.

I just did a whole new floor on my wrecker project and that's the way to go!!! You don't need to be a good welder if going with the full floor. You'll be doing plug welds and they are easier than falling off a log!
Very little welding and the results are awesome! I'll never opt for patch panels again if I can help it. The only downside is you have to remove the cab and it is a big job.

i am about to do the same job myself and im going for the full floor. plus with the full floor it replaces the cab supports too. my opinion, more work...alot less welding.

Yes, get the one with all the supports already installed. I think there is a floor pan only version for about a hundred less but by the time you buy the other pieces, then have to install them, it's no deal at all.
Best to buy one within driving distance so you don't have to pay truck freight. I think I got mine for $499 or $599, can't remember but I picked it up so no shipping cost. Just to add, mine went in like it belonged there! It's a VERY nice piece. It's alot more work on one hand but think of all the work & the welding would have to do with pieces and patches. Ugh!

GMC paul has one for 380.
Sucky part is that I already bought all the patch panels so I'd be out some money. I guess i'll ask the guy doing the welding which one he would rather do. |

im about to do the whole floor also, i have no background in welding and body work but i have to get someone else to do it. ive gotten a quote for 2200 for the floor, cab corners and rockers. Is that a good price or on the high side? That includes parts

I just got a price on my cab work today. He gave me a price of 1,500 for the patch work. I was just going to ask if that was a good price for patches on the floor, foot kicks, rockers , and cabs. But from your price it seems it is. I'm super pumped, the first person I got to actual be excited to work on it. Everyone else says sure, but wouldnt give me a yes or a no.

I just bought a complete floor for one of mine and it is by far the best way to go to do it right. The work you can save by piecing one together is well worth the extra cost of the part.

The inner rockers are made stamped with the floor, but yes you have to gave the outer rockers and cab corners still. My buddy has a shop and carries sheetmetal for all kinds of cars and trucks. I gave $425 for it and went across town 8 miles to pick it up. He's a supplier for AMD metal which owns tri plus, these are stamped tri plus and are very heavy duty, it's all I can do to carry the floor by itself and I'm a big guy.

Saddly, full floors were not available when I did my floor. Turned out being a patchwork of patches, both factory & handmade. I think it looks bad & one day I'll replace the whole floor as one.

If you have a good hump just use one of these floors a cut the hump out and bolt down the high hump. That what I plan on doing since I'll need some extra trans clearance.
