Re: Rear End ?????????

There are many ideas on this topic. Tire diameter in the 29 to 30 inch range, and OD trans work well with 3.42 and 3.73 gear ratio. Of course how you use the truck also has a large effect on mileage and gear choice as in mostly highway, flat land, mostly towing with some hills to climb, etc. Your engine and how it's tuned makes a difference too. Carb'd or fuel injected? Lot's to consider.

Re: Rear End ?????????

Boog is right. It,s all a combination. It mainly depends on engine size. I run a 70 stepside, 350 engine, 29 dia. tires with 3.08 gears. It works good but you certainly wouldn,t want anything higher then that.
