Crossmember

We've got a 72 chev (V/8 3 on the column)that we're fixing up for a garbage hauler(pretty tough shape). Want to put an automatic in and am wondering if the crossmember for the standard will work for the automatic.

NO!
The 3-onthe-TREE has the manual FRONT mount bracket
between the frame rails. To mount an auto, you will need the
rear mount....these seem to go for about 30bucks. YOU will
need to remove the front tranny mount, means grinding rivits.
Find the need column shifter and components...Assuming you
can find a (dont quote me) 6inch tail shaft TH-350, its pretty
much a direct swap.
And I am sure what ever I have forgotten, someone will come
behind me with more comments... Its really a pretty easy
conversion....after u find the parts. GOODluck!!!
