I replaced the non-power MC with a complete 9" power brake setup on my 68 2WD (from Ebay). Goeff tells me that this may not clear the hood braces and I should have used a 8". The front clip is not yet mounted so I can't check for clearance. Does anyone else have one of these on a 67/67? Do I have to trade it in for a dual 8""?

Your post confuses me. It could be because it is still early in the morning for me..lol You say you bought a 9" and Goeff says it may not clear your hood brace. Then you say he says you should have bought a 9". Hmmmm
I have installed many 9" booster / master cylinders in trucks over the years and didn't have a problem, however the firewall brackets were different and may not raise the booster as high. WES

I had troubles with an 11" booster....and a cowl hood....

Looks like the bracket that mount the booster to the firewall move the booster up too high?? I do not like the 8" double diaphragm boosters. Seem to need too much pedal effort to make them stop. I installed one on my Blazer, and did not stay there a week before i went to a 9" Like the pedal feel, and no hood clearance problems. I will look for a pic to show you what I mean. Cannot find a pic that will help

cparman....now that you say that, I thought it was just me or my brake system.....it does take a lot of pedal effort indeed....now I know!

I just bought the dual diaphram booster from early classic. They say it is a corvette style booster with a mounting bracket that lowers the booster and brings it closer to the firewall. You also have to lower the hole approx. 1 inch for the brake pedal rod because it ends up with too much pedal, or they say your face will be in the windshield when you hit the pedal. I have not installed it yet but they have these made specifically for our trucks to improve clearance and add braking power.
