Shift Linkage with Doug Thorley Headers
So we got the motor and everything in with the Doug Thorley DTE-324Y-C and we were planning on using something like the stock linkage but it doesn't look like there's any room. I know I saw some people suggesting the Lokar 625-ACA-1804 but I can't seem to find any pictures of it installed right now.
We're looking to connect the stock column to a 6L80 (which looks to have the same setup as the 4L60/4L80) Any suggestions or pictures?

Re: Shift Linkage with Doug Thorley Headers
Lokar said that it will not work with the 67 to 72 column, or the 4L60E electronic trans, with the black box on the side ?

Re: Shift Linkage with Doug Thorley Headers
I made my own for the 3 speed-on-the-tree for the 4L60e for $11 (3/8 UNF rod end and HRS rod)
5.3L 4L60e DTY 324 headers OEM 4L60e shift arm vs. my fab'd one I made (note slot 'clocked' correctly in new one to position the downward motion of shift linkage correctly) Park 1st Heat and bend and fit... heat and bend and fit.... heat and bend and fit..... cut threads... viola (even with a shade tree mechanic press)

Re: Shift Linkage with Doug Thorley Headers
I used a Lokar shift setup (ACA -1800) on my 4L60E as well as on my 6L80. Pics are in my build thread.

Re: Shift Linkage with Doug Thorley Headers
I looked at it all again with the headers in place. I believe I can make a shift rod style assembly to work. This has been a looong frame off LS & BAGGED build that im ready to get on the road !!!!

Re: Shift Linkage with Doug Thorley Headers
So with a few bends, adding a few inches and a hyme to the original shift rod, everything cleared. But the trans detent didnt match the column indicator.
So after making a new shift arm 1" longer and rotating the clocking position, it all matches perfect. Only with 1st gear alittle past/ lower than stock. |
