1970 Chevy C10 Centerlink Backwards?
Is my center link installed backwards?
I installed a CPP front disc brake conversion kit, new CPP upper and lower control arms, and new a endlink sway bar. Also installed new disc/drum master cylinder and booster from Summit for power brakes and a power steering conversion kit. Tie rods are '73-'87 style from CPP. Before and after front end alignment by a good alignment shop in Las Vegas, it still vibrates a lot when turning, especially at low speeds. Something I never had with manual brakes/steering. It also over reacts when trying to do normal steering, really annoying and borderline dangerous. Any help would be great! |

YES it's on backwards.
The inner tie rods should connect on the back side of the centerlink with the nuts on the front side. Take it off and swap it end for end.

Stunned. And a little worried about your alignment shop. Going out to check mine now as I too didn't know this could be done.

"Good alignment shop"...
They should have caught this. I bet it will drive a lot better once you swap it around correctly. Gary

Re: 1970 Chevy C10 Centerlink Backwards?
Yes, that did it. Swapped it end to end and placed nuts on forward side. What a difference in driving. It no longer over reacts. It takes quite some trial and error figuring out what sequence to reconnect it all. It ended up being a bit higher and closer to the cross member. lolife99, many thanks for the help!
