Why a 6 lug conversion?

Is it just for more wheel options or something else?

Re: Why a 6 lug conversion?

There was a time when having 6 lugs meant almost no options for wheels. With the advent of the late model trucks going to 6 lug it opened the options up considerably. Beyond that the only really reason to convert is to add disc brakes.

Re: Why a 6 lug conversion?

But even the disc brake argument is blown away, now that we can get dropped spindle / disc brake kits w/ 6-lug rotors! Granted 5 spoke "Smoothie II's" or "Hopsters" look better then their 6 lug brethren, but I'm not sure they look THAT much better to justify the cost of swapping out both the front and rear ends.
