We got the springs back from the powder coaters yesterday. So last night Jason and I went out and started to put the springs on the frame. But we ran into some little problems. I have what I think are the stock hangers for the rear spring. The spring is hitting the hanger. Here is a pic.

In the pic above the spring will not go into place. the shackle will not rotate forward enought to let it fall into the right place? I dont know if that makes sence or not.??

I was happy till this drama started.

It looks like your springs are too long, If the shackle were to swing back enough to hook up it looks like it would not have any room for any movement and that is while on jack stands without any weight on them.

BTW, That is the right shackle.

shackle looks correct, springs are 3-4 inches too long from the looks of the pic. give us some details to work with-- year of frame, spring muanfacturer, lift amount, if any, etc.
wait until you get it back on the ground with weight on the springs before you tighten any of the shackle and spring eye bolts. if you tighten them unloaded they can give you a bad ride and can tear the bushings. it's more of a problem with stock rubber bushings than polyurethane---poly is more forgiving.

the spring end goes above the hanger. in pic one just push it straight up. the red bushing end will be below the spring. just looked at mine. if you need a pic let me know. looks like stock everything

Landon,

I have to agree with Blazerman and Jerry, looks like the springs are too long. My springs measure 50" center to center with no load on them. That puts the rear eye about 2" in front of the center of the hanger. This is on a K10 SWb w/4" lift. A picture will make it a lot clearer.

so I should have kept the 52" springs? f**K I thought they were to short, God this is getting to be expencive.

frame is 72, springs are skyjacker 4" lift springs, they are 57" long or what ever. My wife is going to kill me. Can I buy a shorter spring to fit or do I need to buy the whole spring?

your wife is going to kill you-- you need the shorter springs, sorry. you can't just get a new mainleaf, your center bolt is too far back.

Ya broke the news to her last night. She did not get to mad, but she was not to happy eather.

Well I guess the rebuild stops again for a while.

I think we both chewed my butt. :p I had the right springs to began with, but my friend brandon who rebuilt his truck from the ground up, told me the right springs were the wrong size. But with no waight on the truck. Now he tells me the springs are to long. I have banished him from my garage. I am no longer taking advice from anyone about this rebuild project. It seems like everytime I listen to someone something goes wrong. being on how this is my first attempt to rebuild a truck, I am on my own, and willing to listen to what people say. NOT NO MORE I AM DOING IT ON MY OWN !!! I will still ask some questions here on the board, but I will not listen to my friends. I will post some more pics and stuff after I get the right springs. Landon, I believe there are a few guys on CK5 that have put the 57" springs on thier first gen blazers. You might venture over there and see if you can find any info.
