I would buy brand name U.S.-made parts like TRW, Sealed Power, Federal Mogul, Mellings, and Fel-Pro. Summit Racing sells good rebuild kits with name brand parts. You might also check with Scoggin Dickey at SDPC2000.com. I've seen inexpensive kits by EngineTech, but I fear the parts may be made in Taiwan or China.
If you're a beginner, get a good book like "How to Rebuild Your Small Block Chevy" by David Vizard. It's $12.00 at Amazon.com. Remember the parts that wear the most in a 327 are valve guides and cam lobes, so DO buy a new cam and lifters and have a machine shop look at your heads. Do not have the valve guides reamed -- have them replaced or buy rebuilt heads.

Unless you pull a heavy load quite often or you have had several valve jobs or valve recession on the head, I would not bother with the hardened seats. I have over 100k miles on my 186s since the last valve job. If you do big valves or you have had a valve job done once or twice before, I would do the hardened seats.

Gotta put a good word in for summit racing. Great selection, service and price.
