Anybody with a 4x4 rear Dana 60?

I'm in the process of putting a 2wd Dana 60 rear axle under a 4wd chassis. I need to change the spring perches and move the shock mounts on the axle. Can anyone with a 4wd Dana 60 get me a picture of how the shock mounts are positioned on the axle? Thanks in advance.

Re: Anybody with a 4x4 rear Dana 60?

IIRC the only Dana 60 4x4 applications in 67-72 were GMC K2500 trucks. The shock and perches would most likely be the same as an Eaton axle's.
If you need to see pictures of a 4x4 installation DeadheadNMs build is a great place to start.

I can get you pictures of mine,or measure whatever you want. They are in the same place as the corporate rear.

I have a 4wd corp. 12 bolt outside, and those shock mounts are attached to the axle on the front side of the axle tubes. On this 2wd dana 60 I have the shock mounts come off the bottom of the axle tubes and go down kind of at an angle. If you could get me a picture that would help a ton. I just want to make sure where the shock mounts attach to the tubes.

Re: Anybody with a 4x4 rear Dana 60?

I got these pictures this morning. The one from behind is looking straight on. I can pull it onto hardtop and measure up to axle and to mount to get how far below the tube it is. It looks like the center of the shock bolt it about centered on the axle tube. I measured 4 3/16" from side of shock mount to side of u-bolt plate at the high spot where the u-bolt goes through

Re: Anybody with a 4x4 rear Dana 60?

Thank you very much special-k. Those pictures are exactly what I needed. I just want to make sure that I got the shock mounts in the correct position so I can by the specific shocks for the truck and not have to worry about custom shocks.

Glad to help. Mine's going to be coming out, eventually,to be replaced by an HO52 as part of a K3500 creation. That will bolt-in but may have difference in driveshaft length. (might be changing transfer case/transmission,too. So...

Re: Anybody with a 4x4 rear Dana 60?

When I put the semi-float 14 in my Jimmy I made a jig off the 12 bolt for pinion angle and shock mount position. I then cut the mounts off the 12 bolt and re-attached to 14 sf.

Re: Anybody with a 4x4 rear Dana 60?

I almost went this route on my K20 and have unused US made quality spring perches (http://www.bluetorchfab.com/Product/...-3-8-Tube.aspx) for a Dana 60 that I will cut you a deal on. PM if interested and good luck. Pete
