Smile Please, somebody tell I don't need it.

Well for the last 12 years just about every day, I have passed a house about 3 miles from where I live. The guy who lives there had a red 79 Silverado Big 10, short bed. I've admired this truck, well, for 12 years. Many a time I've started to stop and ask him if it was for sale, knowing it wasn't. Guess what, he's got a for sale sign in the window and it's parked in his yard. FOR SALE.

I stopped today and talked to him about it. He's asking $2000.00 for it. I think he told me it has 156,000 miles on it. 350 with a TH400 tranny, all original. Original paint too. It needs a little attention, but nothing real major. It has a little rust around the drivers side rear wheel well. Not bad though. He said the AC worked good, cruise still works. Original rally wheels. Got one tiny dent right behind the passenger front wheel well where a crosstie he uses in his drive flipped up and hit it.

Man, I'm do damned tempted. I don't need it at all, but dang. You don't see these things everyday, at least not around here anyway.

I asked him if I could take a few pics of it. He said sure. I think I'm going back in a few minutes and take some. I'll post them in a little and let everyone see how it looks.

Mike, you know you dont need that truck. you also know that you want it. riptide mentioned going hog wild on this one, but does it have to pass emissions? that could severely hinder the "hog-wildness" of a truck.

Well, here you go.

For the rest,

Rust pic

Rear view

Right side

Small dent

Front view

The rust is the only rust on the truck. No biggy.

The small dent is the only dent on the truck. Again, no biggy.

He offered to let me drive it, but I turned him down. I was afraid if I did, he'd have to peel my fingers off the wheel. I don't need this thing for sure, but I do want it. I might could talk him down to $1800.00, not sure as I didn't try. He is pretty set in his price I can tell.

Well, what do you guys think?

Oh, it is a unleaded fuel truck. Says so on the gas door. It has a cat on it too. I looked at the engine. It has a charcoal canister and EGR. Forgot to look to see if it had a smog pump. I don't remember seeing any pipes on the exhaust manifolds though.

So all this means, I couldn't go hog wild. The cat would have to stay. Sucks too.
