DLoE's Dropmembered 65 StepSiDe Build
Hey guys, my names Derek and thought it was about time to start my build thread. This is my 1965 Chevy C10 stepside that i got from my dad when he passed away. First few pics are my break down. I pulled the inline 250 and started my build of a 292 that i got off craigslist.

Re: DLoE's Dropmembered 65 StepSiDe Build
Here is my finished 292 Inline Six. I had the block stripped and bored .30 over. The crank was machined and balanced and put back together with a Clifford cam, Offy 4 bbl intake, Langdon cast headers, holley 390, Langdon mini HEI unit, everything new. I did not reuse any old parts for the engine. I wanted this thing to be a brand new engine! fuel pump, water pump, oil pickup, starter, alt, everything is new.

Re: DLoE's Dropmembered 65 StepSiDe Build
Went up to Burbank to meet Del and pick up a few goodies. (Porterbuilt hood hinges, control arms and dropmember). If anyone lives in CA and wants Porterbuilt stuff, Del is your man! Awesome shop, super friendly and answered all my questions. I even got to see the blackbird and his tan truck that all you guys have been druelin' over!

Re: DLoE's Dropmembered 65 StepSiDe Build
So i kicked my front clip to the curb and started the painful process of getting my frame ready for painting.. I painted all my Porterbuilt gear with Rust-Oleum Pro Aluminum color and the frame with Rust-Oleum Pro Flat Black. Same as what Jesse (DrtyRat30) did. He was right, it came out awesome. The key is def in the prep. I sanded the frame as close to bare metal as i could, then used a metal/rust prep, then Rust-Oleum Pro Primer and then the top coat. The Porterbuilt stuff i scuffed real good with a scotch brite pad and then cleaned it with a wax/oil/grease remover before priming and painting.

What pistons (brand) did you use in your inline if I may ask?

Re: DLoE's Dropmembered 65 StepSiDe Build
64fugly I'm not sure which ones the shop picked, I know they had to swap out the ones that came with the rebuild kit because of the compression I needed. I will ask them next time I'm over there.
