Spare tire mount
Hey, looking for a spare tire mounting setup, or how to make one on the cheap... Have to haul a bunch of stuff for a construction project and do not need the spare tire in my way for the next 3 months. Any help or photos would be appreciated. BTW interested in the one under the bed.

It really consists of two small crossmember type bars with two long bolts. One is bolted between the frame and is the uppper brace. The lower piece hangs down on the two bolts and kind of clamps the tire/wheel between the two. You can probably get the setup pretty cheap from a local board member or dealer.

If it's just a short job and if you don't need the passenger side, just cover the spare and put it in the front.
My 68 GMC came with a small bracket to mount it inside the bedside. Took it off immediately.. I thought about building (manufacturing) my own mount, but decided against it. I'm not an expert welder, and with my luck, I figured the thing would fall off and I'd be liable if it damaged someone else's vehicle or caused an accident. |

factory sparwe tire mounts are for sale sometimes on the parts board, realatively cheap, maybe like 30 bucks or so. also keep in mind if you aret runnign a stock size tire it might not fit, i tried putting a 32x11.50 in my spare tire holder, but it didnt fit.

also, if you beome a site supporter you can post a WTB as for one in the classifieds, you shouldnt have much trouble finding one.
