Door Latch update ! Figured it out !

I got home tonight from a cruise night 35 miles on a 4 lane highway to get home and when I got home my wife got out and the latch button fell out onto the ground. Now after finding most of the parts I figured out how it works. Now I just need to take off the metal door panel without scratching the paint! any tips would be appreciated. It appears that the two screws that held the button fell out. These pictures show how the button stays in the door.
Thanks

Hmmmmmm, looks like someone during assembly didn't secure them all the way.

Far as taking off handle, its pretty easy and shouldn't mar anything. Knowing me I would have more of an issue getting inside door panel off without scratching something. As long as your gaskets are good on the handle base, you should not scratch anything.

This is my problem, it is all metal and I have a metal removal tool. I am thinking I can put rag under it and push the pin out.

Cover the tool in masking tape. Tape around the handle and window crank. That should help keep from scratching.

Don’t use the tool.
Just grab a rag, and let it snag onto one edge of the clip, and pull it back.

When you go to put the clips back on, just push them onto the handle BEFORE you put the handle back onto the splined window/door spindle.
They are made to just push on.
No need to fight with trying to install them after the handle is on the crank portion.
