Has anyone seen a Sarge special edition?
Has anyone seen one of these special edition trucks?
I've seen a Sarge in a 1977 "Get Truckin' Get a GMC" ad, but I've never seen one of the trucks. Has anyone else? From the ad, it's a 1977 Long Bed 3/4 ton, the one in the ad is a Sierra Classic.

I have those rims on my 77. didn't know they were supposed to be that shiny! One thing I dont like about that GMc pic is those mirrors. They look like F@#d Mirrors. Never seen those type of mirrors on a 73-80

Re: Has anyone seen a Sarge?
was that a direct factory thing or was it like a marketing thing the dealers did?? for instance in the northeast with the Impala and Malibu they tried boosting sales with a two tone blue model with the blue interior and called it a "Blue Cloud edition" they even had special metal insignias made up for fender badges and it was an idea of the north east dealers association or something like that

Re: Has anyone seen a Sarge?
I never saw one of those or heard of one... id love to see if they did something to the interior of that van.. back in the day when vans were all the craze , Dodge made a street van which had a fully finished velour interior.. I know Jeff saw this thread.. do you have any info on these vehicles?

Re: Has anyone seen a Sarge?
GMC's biggest truck was a class 8 called the "5 Star General" like in the brochour pic, makes sence to call its little brother a "Sarge".

Re: Has anyone seen a Sarge?
I have one in middle Kansas . 3/4 2wd.
It has been sitting for about 15 years so dirty - suppose an afternoon out of shed would do it some good (and to get it started) - it hasn't run for some time but all is free and was working when parked. He always fired right up. 350 was replaced with cop interceptor 350 during restore about 20 years ago and wheels were switched in 1978 (others are long gone). My father bought this off the showroom floor in 1977... I was born 6 months later and needless to say have a lot of fond memories in this truck. Note while the sarge decal was not painted back on the bed he does have the etching of the original decal as so it can be reproduced. We simply never got that far. I can assure you however this is 100% sarge. Hood emblem is there to prove it. BTW - should note this was an all electric locks and windows truck, with 8 track radio that had CB built in (still original) One of the first if I recall.
