Jackpot... found a set of 16.5 wheels and caps for my K20

Finally, after what felt like forever, I found a set of Kelsey Hayes 16.5 x 9.75 steel wheels and caps for my 1972 K20.

I feel like I just found a pot of gold and had to share... I love the look of these wheels on our trucks.

Anyone know of a good place that can restore my stainless caps?

Awesome!
What do you need to do to the hubcaps besides paint the black on the fronts? They look good!

Overall they're in pretty good shape. The rears are close to perfect, but could use a good polish. I can do that myself. The front open caps have several small dents that need to be worked out and then a good polish. I'm capable of polishing/painting, but would like a pro to straighten them out.

These guys did an awesome job on my side trim, and were surprisingly reasonable.

That's crazy. I was planning to look through my saved websites tonight because I remember saving a home page with a black 1963 Plymouth that specialized in trim restoration. Perfect timing... thanks.

For sure. I was also going to pop the center of the cap out too. Any tips on finding the correct shade of blue?

Re: Jackpot... found a set of 16.5 wheels and caps for my K20

Congratulations!!! My favorite wheel! I get jazzed when I see an old beater with one or two mix matched. I always want to offer to buy them a set of wagon wheels (or how ever many they need to replace the OEM-style. Just two weeks ago I was at an antique truck club gathering and a guy had a mid-70s K/20 with two of there and two aluminum slots. Man,he had two great 1/2 sets!
S100 makes great stuff. I've used the polish and the bike wash since it came out.
And,thanks to Vectorit for that hook-up on trim resto.

I can relate. I've thought the very same thing when I've seen a wheel or two on some old truck going down the road.

I'm so excited about these wheels I've had trouble sleeping. I think I may need professional help.

Re: Jackpot... found a set of 16.5 wheels and caps for my K20

I always run 9.75s but needed 8.25s for a project. I put together a set one wheel at a time and it took a while. As I recall,I already had one that was the original spare up under the '72 K/20 Cheyenne Super I bought in '91. I got one from Sakontr in Minnesota (I think that's where he is),a pair at a swap meet but one had questionable rust on the bead surface, and the final one I swapped an 8.25 clip-type to a guy from Jersey. So one came from California, two from Vermont, one from Minnesota, and one from New Jersey. They're powdercoated and ready for wheels now:

Wheels make me happy.

It's amazing what we'll go through for a set of wheels. Some people get it, some don't.

Those wheels look great. I'm going to get my set powder coated white too. I think I still have two of those wheels in the 8.25 width. I was thinking about finding two more, but really wanted the wider 9.75's for my truck.

Nice score on the wheels. I have heard Krylon True Blue #1910 is a close match for the hub caps.

Big money for tires no?
I had 16.5 wheels and ended up buying 16's and nice new rims cheaper then just 16.5 tires

Re: Jackpot... found a set of 16.5 wheels and caps for my K20

I was just thinking, I had a set of those big beast wheels on my K20 when I got it. I wasnt going for that particular look for my truck so I got a set of the little bit narrower ones. I traded off the wheels to a board member for a seat for my panel. I hope he got good use of em.
