GMC Grille Experts,... need advise

Have have a '68 GMC grille and possible core support, that I'm thinking about selling.

The core support has no rust under the battery tray.
It's really nice.
All 4 headlights are the factory T3 style.
The grille is just the silver painted version.

I have a couple pics of the "area of concern" circled in red.

Is this the original shape of this area,... or is it damaged/dented?
It looks dented to me.
There are a few very small dents on the leading edge that is hidden behind the bumper.
Are the painted grilles worth anything?

Any GMC grille experts out there?

Re: GMC Grille Experts,... need advise

My 71 doesn't have that spot. Doubt they would be different in that area. Still not a bad looking grill for a driver though as I have seen much worse. If the T-3's don't have black faded spots they are desirable. Haven't seen too many painted grills most want the chrome. But for a D/D might be worth something.

Sammy... is your's a reproduction grille?

Keith... where's the hood release located at? (Not familiar with GMC grilles) I wonder if it's a relief to allow someone more access to the release. It looks like a symmetrical dent if that's what it is.

It's just to the right of the crossbar in these pics.
I have a feeling it's dented.
It's probably going to be for sale soon, along with the core support.

Re: GMC Grille Experts,... need advise

Mine is original. Figured you can tell as it isn't really chrome sorta just stainless. Now I did replace the upper bar which attaches to the grill.(ehich is chrome) And the release is in that area but no reason to have a recessed on the 71.

Re: GMC Grille Experts,... need advise

The grill is dented in the center where you have it circled. The top bar is of the most value because you can't buy a reproduction for it. The core support will work for everything from 67-72 GMCs, however it will have the threaded holes for the front gravel deflectors that 69-72s do not have. The T-3 hedlights are worth more than the replacements and there are some differences in those also that make some worth more than others. Hope this helps, WES

Re: GMC Grille Experts,... need advise

Yes it is. The lower part is the same from 68-70. I would think that the grill and top bar about $100.00, core support $125 (plus or minus, depending on how fast you want them to sell) Headlights, who knows. Ebay is always a great outlet for those. WES

Re: GMC Grille Experts,... need advise

Finding a decent used GMC core support used to be difficult. But I think they are repo'd now.

Re: GMC Grille Experts,... need advise

My stock 68 GMC grill (also painted) does not have an indentation in that area either.

That seems like a fair price for all three.
