Post 8-lug options??

Now that i have already spent a bundle buying all the 1/2 ton parts....I was thinking the other day. ( Late as always! ), Is there another 3/4 rear end with 8 lugs aside from the Eaton??? Surely all of the 3/4 tons were not geared so wicked as mine. And if there was another rear to pick that would retain my current lug pattern, who made it and what gear options would I have if I found one of those?? Just wondering.

Dana 60. Had either 3.54 (big blocks), 3.73, 4.10 or 4.56. I would say it is more common than the Eaton. However, you can still buy new gears for them. Rady's Ring & Pinion has 3.90 gears for the Eaton which is a LOT better than the 4.56 you probably have now. Like the Eaton, the Dana was available with either coils or leaves.

The Dana is a hard to find piece in our trucks. It was available, just not common.
There are gear sets out there for our corp rears...but you'll never wanna pay for them...outragouse.

Maybe where you are at, but the majority of 3/4 ton trucks I see here are Dana 60s. Of the 4 3.4 tons I have, 3 are 60's and ony my sub is an Eaton. They are not hard to find, but 3.54 geared ones might be. There have been several for sale, one in New Jersey and one in Nevada that I remember and both wanted less than $200 for them.

Sort of wish I'd have known that smaller gears were able to be gotten. I think someone told me on here a few months ago that the lowest I could put in my Eaton was 4:11. I am still happy with my donor 3:73 12 bolt, just sad that I have to part with brand new rims and tires just to go to six lug. Oh well....what's a few hundred bucks when it comes to a '67. Haha
