Spring is here, warm days, cool nights and those freakin' Road Bugs
What do you guys, (Florida?) do to protect your trucks from the onslaught of bugs when cruisin'? Looking for some ideas that are quick and dirty, something to put on for driving and easy to remove while parked. We have a lot of show 'n shines around the area and it sucks to fluff the rod just to have it coated with bugs by the time you get to the event.

Be kind, I'm new at the showing part of our hobby.

Clear 3M vinyl?? I have seen the Corvette guys use this instead of a BRA. If you could find someone with static cling material, I think that would be the cat's meow for what you want!

on long trip I spray the front of my trucks with Pam ( yea the cooking spray) it keeps the bugs and road crap off the paint and washes off really easy with a bit of windex

I've used blue painter's tape on the leading edge of the hood and fenders and on the bumper to resist chips and bugs....peels right off...

LOL! I like the "Be kind, I'm new at the showing part of our hobby" Part

Only two ways I know to prevent this from happening: Don't take it out or Get a enclosed trailer.

But seriously, I show mine all the time and I drive it to the shows and it can be a pain to clean it when I get there, but it's just part of the life we're living.
One thing I've learned is to not really "clean" the front until I get to the show, cause I already know I'll have plenty of Bugs committing suicide on it.
I always keep Spray Detail, Hand Wax, an interior cleaner and a glass cleaner in my "Show-Bag" I keep with me and, most importantly: Duplicolor Scratch Fix in my colors; White and Red.
I've just gotten used to giving it a real good rub down and quick detail when I get to the shows.

I don't think I'd try some of things they're telling you on here. Pam and Windex on paint!!??

VA72C10 has a great idea. Never tried that, but it sounds great.

Anyway, when you start pulling in Trophies it makes it all worth it.

A little advice from a Florida boy:
Baby oil, doesn't harm the paint and washes off with Dawn and water.
Also helps to wax the crap out of it with heavy paste before putting on the oil.
I outta know, we have SWARMS of love-bugs twice a year and I used to manage a recon center in Bradenton. Love-bug guts are acidic and will eat the paint or clearcoat in just a few days.

There are products sold at the RV supply to spray the front of an RV while traveling to keep bugs from sticking. I have used it many times on our travel trailer and it works very well and makes clean up much easier.

I too have heard that WD40 helps to remove bug guts.

i got this idea from a local guy he uses on his 68, i used window screen held on by magnets to keep the core support and radiator clean of bugs. Only take seconds to install and uninstall.

pledge furniture polish works well and wipes off easy. we used it all the time on the airplanes at the flight school i used to wrench for. it wont harm the paint.

That is a great idea. Might have to start using that cause my Radiator cooler is getting pretty beat up.
