'67 open road I looked at today

saw it on CL. Just down the street from me. Been sitting since '93. Motor was rebuilt in '92 before 3000 mile trip to mexico. Then it was parked. The owner couldn't keep the 327 running very long. Seemed to be a carb problem. Probably from sitting. He is a mechanic, so he was going to rebuild the carb and get it running, then have me come back over. The truck had lots of water damage on the ceiling and some in the walls. Has 16 inch split rims and the tires didn't look to good. Hundreds of shocks, and brake parts were stored in the camper section. The owners father had his own auto repair shop for 50 years and when he closed it down, he took all his remaining parts and stored them in the motorhome. They are the original owners of the motorhome. Even had the owners manual in the glovebox. SPID was still readable. I didn't mind the motor not running very long. I could tell it was taken care of. The water damage is what scares me. Took some pics. Let me know what you think. Price was $1800. I think he is a little high. 48k original miles. No rust anywhere!!

was wondering what the canister was hooked up the master cylinder? Motorhome had auxillary battery set up too.

the price sounds good, that steering wheel looks nice... any cracks on it? There's always room for bargaining. Try $1200, maybe even a grand even.

perfect steering wheel, dash, seats, carpet was a little worn. Paint was originally a light gray form what he told me. Now it is two-tone tan and brown. 157" wheelbase.

Re: '67 open road I looked at today

I got a free camper trailer this past summer that had severe water damage....not much to it really, as long as you are fairly good with a tape measure and wood saw, it shouldnt be too bad. we had to replace the whole floor in my trailer, but the frame is just a 2x4 base bolted to the metal frame of the camper shell. Check for rot in the uprights on the actual side of the walls of the camper, as these might be a little harder to replace. And you may be able to find a carpenter/contract buddy to help. they're kinda like little houses lol. hope that helps
