It kind of depends on the size. I have mounted them on the inside of the frame rail, bottom of the floor pan, front of the core support, and even under the running boards on the older cars. You want good air flow but just as important is to be protected from road debris.... Core support means longer lines but that is not all bad either. LockDoc

Re: trans cooler question
Put mine on outside frame rail on pass.side. It is about where drive shaft goes into tranny. Hose up and over frame attached to bed bottom. Did not want to clutter up front anymore.

Re: trans cooler question
Here's mine, totally hidden from view.
I put it on the front of the front frame crossmember. It just barely fit. It's as far to the DS as it could go. If I had used 90 degree fittings I could have centered it more, but I was cheap and used the "straight out" ones that came with it.

Re: trans cooler question
So if you add one of these with a TH350...does that mean you do not need to run the lines to the radiator?
That would be a nice thing. Tim

Mine is in front of the radiator and behind the AC condensor.

Re: trans cooler question
I stuck mine between the condensor and the radiator. I also ran the lines to the internal coolier also.
