radio install?

I spend some time looking for a place to mount a cd player and speakers. I didn't find a good place without cutting. My interior is all original and uncut after all these years. I am thinking of cutting a dash and doors for speakers but I don't want to regret it later on. What are my options, should I cut it? Thanks

Re: radio install?

if it's a driver, and you requre good tunes, then you have VERY limited realistic options.
I say cut carefully, secure everything properly, and you'll have no regrets.
A personal preferance, place the speakers to the rear of the doors instead of to the front. That way they'll be out of sight when the doors are closed, and won't get kicked by idiots in the passenger seat when they get out of the truck.

I say put a set of kick panels with speaker provisions, a couple of speakers under seats, and either a mp3 compatible retro-style knob stereo , or a CD player in the glove box. Tunes will never be important enough for me to hack up a dash and doors, no matter how neatly the hacking is done. JMO

You can put a CD player with an MP3 port on it in the glove box and it looks like you already have an original radio in it so you can hook the CD Player up to that and use the original radio for the controls. You can also use a remote instead to control the CD Player which is a little safer when driving.
