Oil Canister Filter Replacement
On my 67 327 I have a canister with an element type of filter. Are there replacement kits where you can put the regular screw type filters on instead of the element type? The canister I have on my 67 leaks like crazy. Thanks for any info you can give me.

Yes, I believe most places carry some sort of a filter adapter, such as LMC which is only 12.95 for the kit. I would guess that some board vendors may carry these also. The little metal adapter uses two screw holes that are already in the block then you should be able to just screw on a filter. I have used an adapter on a 327 i have here and expected it to leak because of the extra gasket but it doesn't leak a drop. Im sure what brand it is but i came with the engine and it seems to work very well. I have had no experience eith the LMC ones but maybe some one else here has.

Any local parts store should be able to get it in the Mr Gasket brand.

Also make sure that there is not 2 gaskets on your canistor type. This maybe why it leaks.

I bought a wix conversion kit for my 283. works good and the oil changes aren't as messy.

When I first got my 69, the Jiffy Lube changed it out with an adapter, so they should be available in most places. Mine was an original 307.
